State funding for MPR is at risk—act now
As Minnesota’s largest cultural organization, MPR is a proud recipient of investment from the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. This funding helps support free access to MPR’s local arts and culture programming for over 95 percent of Minnesotans throughout the state. MPR provides programming that directly aligns with the goals of the Legacy Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund: Preserving Cultural History, Providing Live Arts Events, Showcasing MN Artists, and Expanding Music Education.
Right now, the House and Senate Legacy Committees are budgeting for Fiscal Year 26-27. In this process, they are considering a significant reduction in our Legacy funding. Act now to increase MPR’s Legacy funding allocation for Fiscal Year 26-27 to keep it even with our Fiscal Year 24-25 level of $4.1 million.
With the threats to public media funding on the federal level, cuts at the state level would be devastating to the service we are able to provide. To maintain the arts, music, and cultural programming that helps connect Minnesotans with the work of more than 1,200 local artists each year, MPR needs this funding.
Please contact your Minnesota state legislator by phone or email to let them know increased Legacy funding is important to you and to MPR.
