89.3 The Current and the Citizens League present "Policy and a Pint: The Budget Breakdown--From Washington to Minnesota to Us" April 14 at the Varsity Theater, Minneapolis

Apr 28, 2009

WHAT: Every day, the news brings more stories about the recession--how we got here and how the government intends to fix it. But does the average citizen feel like they understand it yet or the stimulus package that government leaders debate on a daily basis? The Current and the Citizens League host a discussion about the budget crisis that our government faces from the economic downturn.

89.3 The Current's Steve Seel will moderate. He will be joined by Minnesota Public Radio News reporter Tom Weber, who will discuss what money Minnesota might see from the stimulus; and Glenn Dorfman--a former lobbyist and current consultant on economic analysis, who served on Governor Pawlenty's State Budget Task Force. Dorfman will discuss how the government can budget better.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 14 Doors are at 5:30 p.m.; the program starts at 6 p.m.

WHERE: The Varsity Theater, 1308 4th St. SE, Minneapolis

TICKETS: $10; $5 for students with valid ID. To reserve tickets, go to the Citizens League Web site: http://www.citizensleague.org/events/.
