DJ Jill Riley Joins Steve Seel as Co-Host Weekday Mornings on 89.3 The Current

Apr 29, 2009

89.3 The Current today announced The Current's DJ Jill Riley has joined Steve Seel as the weekday morning co-host.

"Putting together a weekday morning program that connects, relates, informs, and entertains our listeners is an important task," said Jim McGuinn, program director, The Current. "Steve and Jill have been testing this out the past few weeks and you can already feel the connection between themselves and our listeners."

Seel has been solo hosting weekday mornings on The Current since mid-December 2008. Riley has hosted a variety of DJ timeslots on the Current, from overnights to Saturday night's "Radio Free Current" show. Both Seel and Riley have been DJs with The Current since the station launched in 2005.

"Jill is one of the funniest and smartest people I know, so when we're in the room together, we get a kind of natural caffeine going," Seel said. "She's also an incredible music nerd with an imposing LP collection, which inspired our new feature, 'Random Vinyl.'"

In addition to "Random Vinyl," heard 6:30 a.m. weekdays, other new weekday morning features include "Today in Music History" at 9 a.m. and "The Coffee Break" at 9:30 a.m., where listeners make creative requests on a topical theme each day.

"I'm looking forward to chatting with Steve everyday, keeping people informed and most importantly, providing a great morning soundtrack," Riley said. "It makes me laugh to think that someone is enjoying their morning coffee while I sneak some Slade or Black Sabbath into the mix."

TUNE IN: Steve Seel and Jill Riley host weekday mornings 6-10 a.m. on The Current. The Current is heard on KCMP 89.3 FM in the Twin Cities, KMSE 88.7 FM in Rochester and on the Web at thecurrent.org.
