89.3 The Current and the Citizens League present "Policy and a Pint: No Impact Man" at The UBS Forum September 17
Aug 10, 2009
WHAT: While more and more Americans are trading in their SUVs for hybrids or making an effort to recycle more, few have done what Colin Beavan attempted to do. Beaven tried to live one year of his life without making an environmental impact, all while living in New York City with his wife and young child. This meant living his life without elevators, a car, products in packages, air-conditioning, or television--all things many of us use every day.
Beaven will join 89.3 The Current's Steve Seel for the next installment of Policy and a Pint. The audience is invited to join their discussion about the different ways to reduce your carbon footprint and why Beaven thinks this can make your life better.
About Colin Beavan: Colin Beavan writes and administers the blog No Impact Man, which has become a meeting point for discussion of environmental issues from a "deep green" perspective. About 1.3 million people have visited the blog since he established it a year-and-a-half ago and it was named one of the world's top 15 environmental Web sites by Time Magazine.
WHEN: Thursday, September 17. Doors are at 5:30 p.m.; the program starts at 6 p.m.
WHERE: The UBS Forum, Minnesota Public Radio, 480 Cedar St., St. Paul
TICKETS: $10; $5 for students with valid ID. To reserve tickets, go to the Citizens League Web site: http://www.citizensleague.org/events/.
