What: Minnesota Public Radio is opening the doors of its headquarters in downtown St. Paul to celebrate its more than 100,000 members. During the past year, Minnesota Public Radio's membership hit a landmark number of more than 100,000 members--the only other radio station that enjoys equal support from its members is WNYC in New York City.

"I am so unbelievably thrilled that our audience takes MPR's programming so seriously--enough to voluntarily support it at a level that's phenomenal," says Valerie Arganbright, senior director for MPR Membership. "I can't wait to see all the members at our open house. It will be great to thank them in person."

A family event, the MPR Open House will feature plenty of radio hosts and personalities on hand, refreshments, live music, demonstrations and more.

Throughout the day, visitors will be able to take a self-guided tour of MPR's headquarters. Two cellists from Jelloslave will perform live in MPR's studios. There will also be demonstrations of Surround Sound in MPR's Maud Moon Weyerhaeuser Studio.

And just down the street at MPR's Fitzgerald Theater, Adam Levy's Bunny Clogs will be performing two sets: 11 a.m.-noon and 1-2 p.m. The Current's Steve Seel and Jill Riley will be on-stage noon-1 p.m. And from 2-3 p.m. there will be a screening of rock 'n' roll trailers.

Guests will be able to meet some of the people behind the voices of MPR and American Public Media:

American Public Media hosts: Marketplace Money's Chris Farrell, A Prairie Home Companion's Tom Keith and Jearlyn Steele, and Future Tense's John Moe.
