89.3 The Current Presents Minnesota Music Day Saturday, May 15, an Entire Day of Broadcasting Dedicated to Minnesota Musicians

Apr 30, 2010

(St. Paul, Minn.)--April 29, 2010--On Saturday, May 15, from midnight to midnight, The Current will dedicate its entire day's playlist to music made by Minnesotans.

"One of the things that people constantly say about The Current is that they love the support we give to local music," says Jim McGuinn, program director for The Current. "So we decided to go all the way and do a whole day of nothing but artists from the Minnesota area."

The 24 hours of Minnesota music will thread its way through regular DJ shifts and Saturday specialty shows.

For a special edition of "Teenage Kicks"-- 8-10 a.m. Saturdays--former Suicide Commandos front man Chris Osgood will join host Jacquie Fuller and share his take on the scene.

The all-request show "Radio Free Current" with host David Campbell--7-11 p.m. Saturdays-- will ask the audience for their picks of best local gems.

The hip-hop show "Redefinition Radio" with host Kevin Beacham--11 p.m.-midnight Saturdays--will be dedicated to the local hip hop scene.

You'll also hear from all the Current DJs throughout the day: Bill DeVille, Mac Wilson, Steve Seel, Jill Riley, Barb Abney, Mary Lucia and Mark Wheat--spinning their favorite local tunes and taking requests, too.
