Hosted by MPR News' Kerri Miller, this installment of Talking Volumes welcomes author Jonathan Franzen ("The Corrections") to talk about his latest novel, "Freedom"--about the Berglunds and their lives in their gentrified section of St. Paul.

Time magazine said about the author: "Franzen isn't the richest or most famous living American novelist, but you could argue -- I would argue -- that he is the most ambitious and also one of the best."

The New York Times said about "Freedom": "Mr. Franzen has written his most deeply felt novel yet -- a novel that turns out to be both a compelling biography of a dysfunctional family and an indelible portrait of our times."

Talking Volumes is the joint book club of MPR and the Star Tribune in collaboration with the Loft Literary Center.

The Jonathan Franzen event is part of launch week activities kicking-off the Centennial Season of The Fitzgerald Theater.
