(St. Paul, Minn.)--October 18, 2010--Classical MPR announced today that for the first time ever, it will broadcast holiday music throughout the entire holiday season on all Classical MPR stations. From November 29 to December 26, 2010, the programming will be filled with familiar festive carols in choral, instrumental, solo vocal and orchestral arrangements.

The music will be both distinctly seasonal and uniquely Classical MPR--with holiday specials that feature the best musical talent from the Twin Cities and from around the globe.

"This is going to be fun, classy and beautiful," says Brian Newhouse, managing director, Classical MPR. "We want to give our listeners the best music inspired by the holidays, music from throughout the ages, creating a companion for them as they celebrate the season."

Classical MPR will also broadcast traditional holiday favorites: A Chanticleer Christmas, A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols and St. Olaf Christmas. There will also be Minnesota touches, such as the Minnesota Orchestra's performance of Handel's Messiah, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's performance of Berlioz's Childhood of Christ, and the Chanukah special, Candles Burning Brightly with Bill Morelock and Mindy Ratner.

A complete programming schedule will be available at classicalmpr.org. Note: For listeners who prefer another programming option, Classical MPR will provide an alternate mix of classical music via its webstream at classicalmpr.org.

TUNE IN: Classical MPR programming is heard on all Minnesota Public Radio classical music stations, including KSJN 99.5 FM in the Twin Cities.
