MPR News Programming to Broadcast on KRFI 88.1 FM in Redwood Falls, Minn.

Dec 7, 2010

(St. Paul, Minn.)--December 8, 2010--Minnesota Public Radio announced today that MPR News will now broadcast via a low-power station on KRFI 88.1 FM in Redwood Falls. Since stations have a more reliable broadcast reach and more protection from interference than translators, KRFI will replace the translator signal on 96.9 FM previously heard in that area.

Residents of Redwood Falls will still hear the best of regional MPR News--programs like Morning Edition, Midmorning and Midday--as well as national programming such as Car Talk,® This American Life,® The Splendid Table,® Being,® and everyone's favorite, A Prairie Home Companion.®

"We are proud to improve the MPR News service signal in Redwood Falls," said Chris Cross, regional manager, MPR. "Minnesota Public Radio seeks to bring the best news and information to Minnesotans all over the state, and a station instead of a translator in Redwood Falls is an important milestone in this ongoing effort."

Building and maintaining stations throughout Greater Minnesota is made possible through the public-private partnership that includes support from MPR Members, the federal Public Telecommunications Facilities Program and the State of Minnesota.

Tune in: MPR News can be heard in Redwood Falls on KRFI 88.1 FM beginning on December 8, 2010. MPR News will discontinue broadcasting in Redwood Falls on translator 96.9 FM that same day. MPR News can also continue to be heard in the Redwood Falls area on 91.1 FM. A complete list of MPR News stations can be accessed online at minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/stations.
