Minnesota Public Radio Presents "Voice Match" with Sue Scott and Tim Russell

Renowned playwright teams up with "A Prairie Home Companion" stars in a new play perfect for Valentine's weekend

WHAT: "Voice Match" tells the story of two star-crossed voiceover actors who finally meet after years of working together but from different cities. Sue Scott and Tim Russell play Greta and Charlie, who are about to meet at a trade convention. They are staying at the same hotel. Hilarity ensues. It's a new show by renowned playwright Jeffrey Hatcher. Sound effects genius Tom Keith will also lend his voice to the evening's fun.

WHEN: Sunday, February 13, 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: The Fitzgerald Theater, 10 E. Exchange St., St. Paul. The Fitzgerald Theater is in its 100th year. Voice Match is part of our year long Centennial Celebration.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Sue Scott
Sue Scott is an actor and voice-over talent who performs the female voices each week on "A Prairie Home Companion." Originally from Arizona, Sue has lived in the Twin Cities for nearly 30 years and is getting acclimated to the cold. She has performed on stages throughout the Midwest and is a veteran voice talent. She was featured in the Robert Altman movie A Prairie Home Companion as Donna, the make-up lady. Sue loves bringing her business to the stage in Jeffrey Hatcher's new comedy, "Voice Match."

Tim Russell
Tim Russell is a man of a thousand voices. He has been an actor on "A Prairie Home Companion" since 1994, playing roles from Dusty the Cowboy to George Bush and Barack Obama. Tim played the part of Al the stage manager in the Robert Altman film "A Prairie Home Companion," and a detective in the Coen brothers' "A Serious Man." He hosted his own program at WCCO radio for 33 years and is currently entertainment editor there. He reviews movies for KARE 11 and on his blog, Russellreviews.com.

Tom Keith
Tom Keithprovides sound effects and character voices for "A Prairie Home Companion." A St. Paul native, Tom has performed with Garrison Keillor since 1976. With vocal calisthenics and just a few props, Tom creates creaking doors, honking geese and elephants trapped in boxcars. Tom is among celebrity contributors--including former Beatle Paul McCartney and folksinger Pete Seeger--to a childrens' activity book called Open Ears (Ellipsis Kids).

Jeffery Hatcher is a Minneapolis playwright whose work has been seen on Broadway and around the world. His numerous plays include "Compleat Female Stage Beauty," "Mrs. Mannerly," "Murderers," "Ten Chimneys," "Ella," "Mercy of a Storm," "Smash," "Armadale," "Korczak's Children," "To Fool the Eye," "The Falls," "A Piece of the Rope," "All the Way with LBJ," "The Government Inspector," "John Gabriel Borkman," "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and others. He has written screenplays for Stage Beauty, Casanova, and The Duchess, as well as episodes of Columbo. He has been the recipient of grants from the NEA, TCG, the Lila Wallace Fund, the McKnight Foundation, Jerome Foundation, the Edgerton Foundation and awards such as the Rosenthal New Play Prize, the Frankel Award, a Charles MacArthur Fellowship Award, the Edgerton Grant, and the Barrymore Award. He is a member of The Playwrights' Center, the Dramatists Guild, the Writers Guild, and New Dramatists.
