Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media Names Valerie Arganbright Managing Director for Membership

(St. Paul, Minn.)--January 14, 2011-- Minnesota Public Radio | American Public Media has named Valerie Arganbright managing director for Membership. The position oversees the development and implementation of the company's member program.
"Members are our biggest fans, and Member contributions are our most important source of support. Valerie cares deeply about our Members and is a thoughtful steward of the trust and confidence that our Members have placed in us," says Jon McTaggart, chief operating officer for American Public Media. "She has led our Membership services and growth during the worst economic recession in 40 years. She is widely recognized within the APM family as an energetic and talented team leader, and we're pleased Valerie has agreed to take on this larger leadership challenge within the organization."
Arganbright first came to Minnesota Public Radio in 1990 as general manager of MPR's stations in south western Minnesota and Sioux Falls, SD. Soon after, she was named director of network stations and increased support in this area by 50 percent from 1995 to 1999. From 1999 to 2004, Arganbright took a break from MPR and enjoyed the success of consulting with public broadcasters and non-profits across the country and internationally. She also served as the Membership services leader for PRI.
In 2004, Arganbright returned to APM | MPR to lead on-air fund raising and content services. She was promoted to senior director of membership in 2005. Arganbright was recently recognized, nationally, as public radio's "2010 Development Professional of the Year."
