WHAT: 89.3 The Current presents "Jeremy Messersmith: Works for Words". Messersmith will lead a night of the best lyrical works in song--his own and those of others who've influenced his style and ideas including Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Prince, Bob Dylan, Sigur Ros, Conor Oberst, Radiohead and many more. Messersmith and friends will sing songs that work for words. Plus, Jill Riley from the Current will stop by to take a look at lyrics that are better when they are misunderstood.
About the Performers
Dessa is an essayist, rapper, solo artist and a proud member of Doomtree, Minneapolis' ascendant musical collective.
Chris Koza is a singer-songwriter, has self-released four albums and is a member of Rouge Valley.
Lucy Michelle is a writer, musician and front woman for Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles.
Brian Tighe has been an active contributor to the Twin Cities music scene for over 20 years and offers has offered his talents to musical groups including The Hang-Ups, The Owls and The Starfolk.
