MPR's Jeff Nelson Named to 40 Under Forty

St. Paul, Minn. (March 22, 2011) - Jeff Nelson, managing director of public strategy for Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) and American Public Media (APM), is a winner of the 2011 Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal 40 Under Forty award.

The award recognizes 40 of the region's top business and civic leaders who are 39 years of age or younger. To be selected, a candidate must demonstrate consistent outstanding professional achievement and show a commitment to community service.

"Jeff's leadership role in creating a national public awareness campaign to support federal funding for public broadcasting is just one example of his professional drive and talent," said Bill Kling, president and CEO of MPR and APM. "Jeff stuck his neck out to create the 170 Million Americans for Public Broadcasting initiative on behalf of PBS, NPR and thousands of stations nationwide."

Ongoing, Nelson is instrumental in many of the legal and public funding initiatives on behalf of the organization, including building coalitions between the public and private sectors to advance the mission of public broadcasting.
