May 12, 2011

WHAT: Join 89.3 The Current for "The Current Road Trip: Austin" on Saturday, June 4. The free, all-ages event brings Tapes 'n Tapes - the adored Minneapolis-based rock band - for a concert performance hosted by The Current's Mary Lucia. The audience is invited to experience the music, dance and learn more about the Minnesota music scene.

About Tapes 'n Tapes
Minneapolis based Tapes 'n Tapes includes Josh Grier on guitar and lead vocals, Matt Kretzmann on keyboards and horns, Erick Appelwick on bass guitar and backing vocals and Jeremy Hanson on percussion. They got together in 2003 and amassed "tapes 'n tapes" of experimental jams, and declared themselves a band by that name. They are a band that prides themselves on making music for all the right reasons - fun and pure love for music. Their most recent album, Outside was released in January of this year.

About The Current Road Trip
In 2010, The Current began hitting the pavement with "The Current Road Trip"--a concert series that brings the best of the Twin Cities' music scene to all corners of the state. Each concert features up-and-coming musical talents for an evening of music hosted by The Current DJs. Past concerts in Duluth, Mankato and Rochester featured Minnesota artists Jeremy Messersmith, Roma Di Luna and Dessa.

The Current Road Trip is made possible in part by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
