WHAT: Minnesota Public Radio presents Ed Asner as FDR for one night only in the Twin Cities. This solo performance drama is based on Dore Schary's hit, "Sunrise at Campobello," which ran 70 weeks on Broadway.
Asner, recipient of 7 Emmy Awards and 5 Golden Globe Awards, stars as one of America's best-loved presidents, Franklin D. Roosevelt. FDR explores the events and decisions that shaped a nation. This powerful play follows the iconic president as he reflects on his years in office, from inauguration to the trials of World War II.
More about Ed Asner
Asner is a member of the TV Academy Hall of Fame for his work on "Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Lou Grant." Additional television work includes appearances as a recurring guest star on the television series "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and an Emmy Award Winning role as Captain Davies in the mini-series "Roots." Asner's New York City Theatre credits include "Ivanov," "The Tempest," "King Henry V," and "Born Yesterday." Other theatrical credits include "Woyzck," Volpone," "Windoweis Houses," and "Oedipus Rex."
