Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series Welcomes Jeff Greenfield on October 6 and Isabel Wilkerson on November 10

Sep 15, 2011

WHAT: Now in its 16th year, Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series has invited two renowned authors and journalists--Jeff Greenfield, October 6; and Isabel Wilkerson, November 10--for lively and topical discussions about their craft.

Jeff Greenfield
Thursday, October 6
7 p.m.

For this installment of the series, hosted by MPR's Kerri Miller, Jeff Greenfield will discuss his career as a political and media analyst. A veteran reporter, Greenfield served as senior political correspondent at CBS News from 2007-2011. Before that, he served as senior analyst for CNN since 1998, where he was the lead analyst for conventions, presidential debates and election night, as well as presidential funerals and the Supreme Court nomination hearings. He began his career at CBS News (1979-1983) and also served as a long-time analyst for ABC News (1983-1997).

Greenfield's 1995 debut novel, The People's Choice, was a national bestseller and named by the New York Times Book Review as one of the notable books of the year. His newest book, Then Everything Changed: Stunning Alternate Histories of American Politics, came out in March 2011.

Isabel Wilkerson
Thursday, November 10
7 p.m.

MPR's Stephen Smith will host this discussion with Isabel Wilkerson, the first African American Woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in journalism for her reporting on the Midwestern floods of 1993.

Her new book, The Warmth of Other Suns, is a feat of reporting and research. She interviewed more than 1200 people to create what the New York Times calls "[a] massive and masterly account of the Great Migration...a narrative epic rigorous enough to impress all but the crankiest of scholars , yet so immensely readable as to land the author a future place on Oprah's couch."

WHERE: O'Shaughnessy Educational Center at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.

TICKETS: Admission is free but tickets are required. To RSVP, go to mpr.org/events.
