What: 89.3 The Current will present Rock the Cradle on Sunday, February 26-- a free day of fun for kids and their grown-ups, held at two of the state's premier arts and culture institutions. The Current is proud to welcome Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota as the first presenting sponsor of Rock the Cradle. Now in its seventh year, the event has grown to host nearly 10,000 people year after year.

Throughout the day, families and social groups from all over the Twin Cities come together to enjoy music, art, books and their community in an inspiring setting. Rock the Cradle is aimed at kids up to age 8 and their grown-ups.

Attendees will find many fun activities, including the popular Musical Instrument Petting Zoo presented by MacPhail School of Music; live music from Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles, Bunny Clogs, Koo Koo Kanga Roo, The Okee Dokee Brothers and Gabriel Douglas from The 4onthefloor; Current DJs in a Kids' Disco; Story Time with Current DJs; and special guest Kevin Kling, one of Minnesota's favorite authors and storytellers and MPR's current Artist in Residence.

New to the event this year: Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota has invited COMPAS artists to help kids and their parents explore the symbolism of the circle. Using colors, shapes and designs, parents and kids are invited to create unique Circle Scape tiles that will be combined to create a large community art piece that will be hung at Children's--St. Paul. Attendees can also participate in a fun make-and-take Circle Scape activity and bring their art home with them.

Other Rock the Cradle activities include Current DJs leading guided tours throughout the MIA, special programming by the Children's Theatre Company and puppetry from Open Eye Figure Theater.
