Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series Welcomes Ron Elving March 26 and Ross Douthat April 23

WHAT: Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series has invited two renowned authors and journalists for lively and topical discussions about their craft--NPR News' Ron Elving on March 26 and The New York Times Op-Ed Columnist Ross Douthat on April 23.

MPR News' Political Editor Mike Mulcahy will interview Ron Elving, the senior Washington editor for NPR News. Elving directs coverage of the Capitol and of national politics at NPR. They'll discuss the Republican nomination saga and NPR's coverage of the 2012 presidential race.

Elving was previously the political editor for USA Today and for Congressional Quarterly. His articles have also been published by The Washington Post, the Brookings Institution, Columbia Journalism Review, Media Studies Journal, and the American Political Science Association. His is the author of "Conflict and Compromise: How Congress Makes the Law."

Ross Douthat

MPR's Stephen Smith will interview The New York Times Op-Ed columnist Ross Douthat. They'll discuss Douthat's supposition that American religion has declined as a mainstream, bi-partisan voice in American politics.

Ross Douthat joined The New York Times in April 2009. Previously, he was a senior editor at The Atlantic and a blogger for theatlantic.com. He is the author of "Privilege: Harvard and the Education of the Ruling Class" and the co-author, with Reihan Salam, of "Grand New Party: How Republicans Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream." He is the film critic for National Review.
