89.3 The Current and the Citizens League Present "Policy and a Pint: Whose Art Is It Anyway?" March 20 at The Varsity Theater, Minneapolis
Mar 6, 2012
WHAT: In this age of effortless downloading, sampling, and copying--when music, advertising, social media and practically all forms of art feel like an endless mash-up of everything else-- who actually owns anything? Is free online distribution and use simply the best way for artists to build audience these days? If so, how does an artist make a living anymore?
For this installment of the Policy and a Pint series, 89.3 The Current host Steve Seel and guests---singer-songwriter Jeremy Messersmith, graphic designer Mike Davis from Burlesque of North America, and attorney Mick Spence---will sift through the changing landscape of copyright law and intellectual property.
