89.3 The Current to Host its 8th Birthday Bash January 18 & 19 at First Avenue

Jan 2, 2013

89.3 The Current announced today that it will celebrate its eighth birthday with a two-day bash featuring Minnesota's hottest musical acts on January 18 and 19, 2013, at First Avenue in Minneapolis.

Friday night's (January 18) lineup includes indie-pop sensation John Mark Nelson, soulful roots/folk singer Chastity Brown, groove masters Twin Cities Funk & Soul Allstars and bluesy rockers The 4onthefloor. On Saturday night (January 19), all-female hip-hop trio The Chalice, indie band Now, Now, legendary singer-songwriter Dave Pirner and experimental rockers Cloud Cult will take the stage.

Both nights will also feature music spun by The Current DJs. Ticket sale information is detailed below.

"Last year, we expanded our birthday celebration to two nights, and now it's a tradition that enables us to feature the diversity of sounds and styles that makes our state's music scene so incredible," said Jim McGuinn, program director, 89.3 The Current. "From up -and- coming acts to veterans who were rediscovered in 2012, these two nights display the rich talent of our state, and the Current is proud to be a part of this community and help connect this music with our listeners."
