Star Tribune and Minnesota Public Radio Announce Lineup for 2013 "Talking Volumes" Series

Star Tribune Media Company and Minnesota Public Radio® formally announced yesterday the lineup of high-profile authors who will appear for the 14th annual "Talking Volumes," Minnesota's nationally acclaimed, regional conversation with authors. The popular series brings together leading writers and book aficionados for discussions, readings, and reader questions and answers.

For the 2013 series, MPR's Kerri Miller, host of The Daily Circuit on Minnesota Public Radio News, returns once again to the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul to interview (for later broadcast) world-renowned writers before a live audience of book enthusiasts and fans:

• Edwidge Danticat (Sept. 25) - The Haitian-American novelist and essayist, who has earned numerous fiction awards, will discuss "Claire of the Sea Light," her newest novel, which will be published next month.
• Margaret Atwood (Oct.1) - The Canadian novelist and poet is among the most acclaimed writers of in recent history. Her newest novel, "MaddAddam" - the final installment of the "Onyx and Crake" trilogy - will debut in September.
• Rick Riordan (Oct. 15) - The bestselling author of the "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" series and "The Kane Chronicles" will discuss his many books, including the upcoming House of Hades (Heroes of Olympus) due out in October.
• Pat Conroy (Nov. 12) - The bestselling author of "The Prince of Tides," "Beach Music," and "The Great Santini" will discuss the highlights of his distinguished literary career, including his forthcoming follow-up novel, "The Death of Santini."

Talking Volumes is a partnership between Minnesota Public Radio and the Star Tribune in collaboration with The Loft Literary Center, and earned the prestigious Gracie Allen Award for its writing, production, and programming quality. MPR will later broadcast the interviews and the Star Tribune will profile these writers in print and online.

Four-session "season tickets" for Talking Volumes 2013 go on sale at noon tomorrow, July 16, 2013, for $80. Single-event tickets will be available at noon on Aug. 2, 2013, for $25 each ($23 for members of Minnesota Public Radio, the Star Tribune Talking Volumes Club and the Loft Literary Center).
