MPR Presents "Story Forms" on December 11

Dec 4, 2013

Story Forms™, a new prototype program presented by Minnesota Public Radio, will premiere on Wednesday, Dec. 11, exploring the timely topic of the intersection between holidays and mental health.

Co-hosted by MPR News reporters Annie Baxter and Curtis Gilbert, the 90-minute program dives into the topic through personal narratives, music and sound. Selected storytellers will share their own poignant stories about the holidays, from the heartfelt and poetic to comic relief. Notable storytellers and their tales include: David Wellstone sharing his holiday experiences after the tragic loss of his father, mother and sister in a plane crash in 2002 and MPR News medical correspondent and University of Minnesota physician Jon Hallberg, who reveals how medical school affected his stress and anxiety levels throughout college and over the holidays. Other featured storytellers include Sam Choo, Maggie Ryan Sandford, Mike Fotis, Sun Mee Chomet, Amy Salloway and Isabelle Smith.

MPR also wants to hear from listeners--what's on your mind about the holidays? Share your own experiences and help shape the program by submitting your own 2-minute tale, a short video featuring your true, personal narrative about the intersection between stress, mental health, and the holidays. Your 2-Minute Tale can be serious, humorous, heartfelt or silly--as long as it is true, focused on your own personal experiences, and 2 minutes or less in length. Use a mobile device to capture your story, then upload it to YouTube or Vimeo, then use the form on the Story Forms website to submit a link to your video. A selection of these submitted 2-Minute Tales may be used as part of the Story Forms program and archived on the Story Forms website at mpr.org/storyforms.

Story Forms is presented by MPR's Healthy States initiative.
