American Public Media Group (APMG) has named Morris Goodwin as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

In his role at APMG, he will be responsible for the management and oversight of the financial operations for all entities within the family of companies that make up American Public Media Group--Minnesota Public Radio, American Public Media, Classical South Florida and Southern California Public Radio. He will lead all finance areas including management reporting and regulatory external reporting, budgeting and forecasting, all daily accounting functions and financing/investing activities.

Goodwin's ties to APMG run deep, as a longtime member and former trustee of Minnesota Public Radio, a subsidiary of APMG.

"We are delighted to welcome Morris to the APMG senior leadership team," said Jon McTaggart, CEO. "He joins us with deep passion and infectious enthusiasm for our ambitious plans to deepen our community impact, build our financial flexibility and expand our services to larger and more diverse audiences and his contributions to those areas will be instrumental to our success."

With more than 30 years of financial experience in investment management, e-commerce, commercial and investment banking, and non-profit organizations, Goodwin most recently served as vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer for the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation in St. Paul, Minn. Previously, he held executive and financial leadership positions at Chase Manhattan Bank, the City & County of San Francisco, Morgan Stanley, American Express Financial Advisors (and IDS Bank & Trust), Deluxe Corporation, Vivius, and The Hogan Company.

"It's a great honor to be joining a world class team of employees and leaders who hold a common vision of enriching lives and lifting spirits in our community," said Goodwin. "I am happy and privileged to become a part of the premier public broadcasting entity in the country and look forward to contributing to the leadership, innovation, sustainability and mission of American Public Media Group."

Goodwin is the chairman of the board for the Search Institute and serves on the boards of Twin Cities Rise, Charities Review Council and African American Leadership Forum. He also is a member of the University of Minnesota Policy Advisory Committee and co-leader of the Diaconate Commission, Episcopal Church of Minnesota. He holds an M.B.A. in finance and public policy from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in political economy from Williams College.
