MPR Elects Ivan Fong to Board of Trustees

Minnesota Public Radio announced today that Ivan Fong of 3M Company has been elected to its Board of Trustees.

Fong is the senior vice president of legal affairs and general counsel at 3M, a position he has held since 2012. An active leader in the legal world, Fong has held senior legal positions at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cardinal Health, Inc., GE, and the U.S. Department of Justice. He currently serves on the board of directors for Equal Justice Works, a nonprofit that is committed to nurturing the next generation of great lawyers to serve vulnerable communities and causes and ensuring all individuals have access to equal justice.

In addition, Fong has served as the chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Science & Technology Law and the Association of Corporate Counsel. His previous board appointments also include the board of visitors for Stanford Law School and the Board of Trustees of Stanford University.

"We are pleased to welcome Ivan to the board of trustees," said Ian Friendly, Minnesota Public Radio board chair. "His deep legal expertise in both corporate and government settings, as well as his noteworthy leadership experience make him a great asset to the organization."

Fong holds a bachelor of civil law with first-class honors from Oxford University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He received his juris doctor (with distinction) from Stanford Law School, where he was president of the Stanford Law Review, and a bachelor of science in chemical engineering and a master of science in chemical engineering practice from MIT. He is a registered patent attorney.
