Jun 21, 2016
ST. PAUL, Minn., June 21, 2016 - Minnesota Public Radio News has won the National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence among large market radio stations. The award was announced today by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
The RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism.
"This is a great honor for our entire newsroom," said Nancy Cassutt, executive director, news and programming for MPR News. "It's our public service mission that drives us, but to be recognized with a National Murrow Award for Overall Excellence is an achievement for which the entire organization and all who support MPR should be proud."
The award recognizes MPR News' work throughout 2015, which included live coverage of breaking news, investigations of key regional issues, and in-depth, sound-rich stories on the most important topics of the day - from climate change to police violence. More details about the award entry are available on the MPR News website. The awards will be presented at a gala in New York on Oct. 10.
