The Current Joins AAA Stations Nationally in Celebrating International Women's Day

Mar 6, 2019

ST. PAUL, Minn., March 6, 2019 — Friday, March 8, marks International Women’s Day, and AAA stations across the country will highlight the national and international ways the holiday can elevate women on the radio.

The women of The Current will present a day of programming celebrating women-identifying artists and their music, and across the nation, several AAA stations will join in celebrating International Women’s Day – a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women globally – with all-day lineups of music by women, special online content, guest interviews and in-studio sessions.

“We’re happy to take part in a larger movement that honors the amazing accomplishments women have made all over the world,” said Lindsay Kimball, assistant program director of The Current. “Music is just one field in which women have made a significant contribution, but it’s one that reaches people everywhere and in unique ways. We’re looking forward to joining our fellow stations and putting the spotlight on these influential artists and their work.”

AAA stations joining The Current with special programming on March 8 include:

The Current will compile a YouTube playlist of in-studio performances featuring women artists filmed at these radio stations. The playlist will be available March 8 on The Current’s YouTube channel.
