The first show on September 20 will be hosted by The Current's Mary Lucia and will feature Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes on his first solo tour. Attendees will enjoy an unforgettable night as Oberst plays songs from his entire catalogue.

MPR News Wins 2012 National Association for Black Journalists Award for Radio Investigative Reporting

MPR News has won the 2012 National Association for Black Journalists' top award for radio investigative reporting for "Following the Firearms: Gun Violence in Minneapolis." The series documented the sources of guns used in street crimes in Minneapolis and showed the impact of violence involving illegal guns. The MPR News team for the series included Brandt Williams and Laura Yuen, reporters; Laura McCallum series radio editor; David Cazares, series web editor, Jeffrey Thompson, video and photo; and Steve Mullis, web production.

On Wednesday, June 27, join 89.3 The Current for "Local Current Live"--a showcase of our local music scene. The concert will feature a great mix of local acts: the folk soul of Chastity Brown, the airy indie pop of Van Stee and the sassy hip-hop collective The Chalice. The Local Current crew--David Campbell, Andrea Swensson, and Jon Schoeber--will also DJ between band sets.

Classical MPR Presents Harmony in the Park at the Minnehaha Falls Park Bandshell, Minneapolis, on June 7

Classical MPR is launching its first-ever annual choral festival--Harmony in the Park™--this summer at the Minnehaha Falls Park Bandshell on June 7 at 7 p.m. Filling the early summer evening with song will be some of the region's finest choral ensembles--VocalEssence, Minnesota Boychoir and One Voice Mixed Chorus. With so many voices lifted up in song--at one of the Twin Cities most beloved park destinations--this will be a perfect gathering for nature enthusiasts, families and choral music lovers. The concert is part of the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board's Music and Movies series.
