Consortium Unveils "170 Million Americans for Public Broadcasting" Campaign

Minnesota Public Radio has joined with public television and public radio stations across the country in an unprecedented effort to harness the enthusiasm of the 170 million Americans who watch, listen to or use the services and programming of public media each month (1). The centerpiece of the campaign is a web site - 170MillionAmericans.org - that represents the beginning of a grassroots effort to engage the support and energy of listeners and viewers in local communities from Homer, Alaska, to Fort Myers, Florida.

MPR News Programming to Broadcast on KRFI 88.1 FM in Redwood Falls, Minn.

Minnesota Public Radio announced today that MPR News will now broadcast via a low-power station on KRFI 88.1 FM in Redwood Falls. Since stations have a more reliable broadcast reach and more protection from interference than translators, KRFI will replace the translator signal on 96.9 FM previously heard in that area.

Renowned soprano Maria Jette is welcomed by Minnesota Public Radio and the Fitzgerald Theater for an evening of traditional carols and spirits. Holiday Cocktails create the atmosphere of a cocktail celebration from the Mad Men era, featuring stylishly revved up versions of holiday favorites like "Santa Baby" and hits by Mel Torme. The ensemble features Maria Jette along with an eclectic mix of friends including Funky Town's Cynthia Johnson, jazz singer Bruce Henry and party trickster Phillip Brunelle, to name a few.

Minnesota Public Radio News and The Humphrey Institute to Review Polling Methodology

Minnesota Public Radio and the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs announced today that they will undertake a thorough review of the methodology used in polls conducted during the 2010 election season. The process will include an internal review of the poll by the Humphrey Institute and an independent audit that will be made public. The independent audit will be conducted by Frank Newport, the editor and chief of Gallup.
