89.3 The Current in the Twin Cities and KEXP 90.3 in Seattle will swap songs from hometown artists in "The Music Exchange" - The Current's ongoing project to share emerging music from different scenes around the country.

Minnesota Public Radio News' report, "Civil War Kids" has won the national Society of Professional Journalists' New America award. The New America Award honors public service journalism that explores and exposes an issue of importance to immigrant or ethnic communities living in the United States.
MPR News' "Bright Ideas" series welcomes Isaac Becker, executive chef and owner of 112 Eatery and Bar La Grassa and recent James Beard Award winner for best chef in the Midwest. Becker and Smith will discuss cooking, creativity and the art of a running a restaurant. Everyone is welcome to stay after the event to mingle and talk food.
The Fitzgerald Theater is proud to be a participant in Pianos on Parade, an arts initiative coordinated by Keys 4/4 Kids. Pianos on Parade is placing 20 working pianos painted by commissioned artists in strategic locations around St. Paul. The pianos are available for the public to spontaneously play, enjoy and engage with art, music and one another.

Levitt, will join Dubner on stage, and together they will regale tales of surprising facts, and unsavory truths, that link the tools of economics to real-world behavior, including the upside of quitting, the ineffectiveness of modern parenting, and our obsession with predicting the future. Like Freakonomics, this evening will cover a lot of territory - "most of it," says Dubner, "off-limits to sane people."

The free, all-ages event brings Tapes 'n Tapes - the adored Minneapolis-based rock band - for a concert performance hosted by The Current's Mary Lucia. The audience is invited to experience the music, dance and learn more about the Minnesota music scene.
